I have been visiting my family graves at Highfield Bredbury since 1966, and the last few years I have seen the maintenance of the site go down hill and yesterday 27th May I was appalled to see several rubbish bins had been set on fire and still smoking.Until about 4 years ago the ground in front of the graves was always dry and well drained, now even if there has been no rain for a week the ground is like a swamp and I need to wear wellingtons to attend to my family graves. Could you explain to me why that after nearly 50 years the drainage as recently become so bad in the area where my family is buried. • Tesco Extra Stockport, Tallscreen wrote 11 years ago:
It's more bizarre than that. Tesco built the bigger store without planning permission. When the council saw what they'd done, they said that Tesco were not allowed to use the extra space above what was stated on the planning application. This is why a section of the store (on the left as you go in) is partitioned off and not used for anything! You can see it clearly from the cafe.

  • Bridge Hall Estate, freddy (guest) wrote 12 years ago:
As a former resident of bridge hall estate I can tell you it is a great and much maligned little estate who's residents are lovely people on the whole (you get a few bad eggs everywhere even in the so called 'posh' areas) and I only moved away (after 46 years) because I was forced to by my draconic / tyrannical local authority who would not let me remain in the house I grew up in, following a family bereavement and would still be there if not for a despotic chief housing officer with his immoral and politically brown nosing housing policies.
  • Graveyard of Brunswick Chapel (demolished), birthday girl (guest) wrote 12 years ago:
It is all so brutal. The last resting place of so many people including children which is now subsumed into an urban nightmare. How impossible to imagine for those unforunate enough to have to bury their kin in the 19th century. This epitomises the full horror that is Stockport.

  • Burnage Media Arts College, Burnage (guest) wrote 16 years ago:
Burnage is in Manchester, not Stockport. Burnage Media Arts College is a Manchester Local Authority School, not a Stockport school. Why does the map say it is in Stockport?
